Dr. R.J. Santoriello
D.C.
The doctor graduated from Life Chiropractic University in 1988. From there he moved to Maryland and has now been in the chiropractic business for over 27 years. His certification includes, but is not limited to, active licensure in Pennsylvania and Maryland with physical therapy privileges. He also has professional affiliations with the American Chiropractic Association and International Chiropractic Association.
Dr. Santoriello told us that his favorite part of the job he does is attempting to diagnose a patient’s problem. He said, “You take all the empirical data, match it with clinical findings, and try to ascertain what’s wrong. It is very challenging but when you are correct, that is when appropriate treatment can begin.” He also said that diagnosing correctly has to be one of the most important parts of chiropractic work.
In his spare time, our new doc is an avid reader. Some of his favorite books include “East to the Dawn” by Susan Butler, “When Pride Still Mattered” by David Maraniss, “The Martian” by Andy Weir, “Seal Team Six” by Howard Waspin, and “Fire in the Hole” by Elmore Leonard. These books are a combination of biographies, chiropractic oriented books, and one sci-fi book!
Dr. Santoriello shared his favorite vacation experience with us. He went to Hawaii for two weeks. His favorite part of this vacation was not the beach, but the center of Maui, known as the Upland. He told us that this was the most beautiful areas he has ever been to.
On a more personal level, our new doctor has been married for 35 years, has three children, and two grandchildren. He has one French bulldog named Luchia and a pug named Gigi! One of his favorite things is taking his “two girls” out on walks through the woods! He also very much enjoys landscaping and likes golfing so much that he could spend ALL day playing!
Dr. Santoriello has graced us with his presence in our office. We are so grateful to have him and we would like if you could give him a big warm welcome to the Pittsburgh East Health Center family!
Dr. Benjamin Shultz
D.C.
Dr. Shultz went to school at Penn State University and then went to New York Chiropractic College. He became a board certified chiropractor and trained at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina for six months. He has been a chiropractor for fourteen years now!
His favorite part about his job getting to help people. “I love interacting with people and helping them with natural healthcare!”
Dr. Shultz is married, has three children, two dogs, and one bunny named powder. His favorite vacation memory is doing flying trapeze at Uncle Paul’s house in Florida and his favorite book is “Who Moved My Cheese?” by Ken Blanchard and Spencer Johnson which is about learning to deal with changes in the work environment as well as in your personal life.
Amanda Smith
Office Manager
Amanda graduated from Slippery Rock University with her bachelor’s degree in Recreational Therapy in 2014. She is also nationally certified by the NCTRC and her previous experience was in psychiatric care.
“My favorite part about my job is getting to help people, from our patients to our staff members. I love that I get to help them meet their goals, whatever they may be!”
Her favorite book is Girl Code by Cara Alwill Leyba, which is basically a class of how to be a successful woman in book form, because empowered women empower women.
She always loved going to Arkansas to see her Grandparents in the summer as a vacation! “It is such a BEAUTIFUL state, so that’s probably why I lived there for four years after graduating college.”
“When I’m not at the office you can find me playing with makeup or helping my partner with his property business. I love animals and hope to have a small farm one day!”
